  • Description

Resilience is not a specific trait that only some people have; it is a range of factors that help us navigate life’s adversities. The benefits of developing resilience or not are far-reaching, impacting mental and emotional well-being,relationships, career success, and overall life satisfaction.

    What you’ll learn

    • Building self-esteem.
    • Developing healthy coping mechanisms.
    • Gaining confidence in one's ability to cope.
    • Nurturing a growth mindset.
    • Problem-solving skills development.
    • Teaching the concept of resilience to children.
    • The power of connections and establishing a social support network.
    • Trauma and resilience across generations.

Here is exactly what we cover in this course:

Recently, scientists have found genetic links indicating that trauma can be passed down through generations, not only via parental behaviour and interactions between parents and children (nurture)  but also, through genetic material (nature). However, resilience can also be inherited through epigenetics and interpersonal relationships. Genetic changes due to adversity can be reversed, and healing can be passed on to future generations.

Resilience can be developed and strengthened at any age through neuroplasticity, which allows the brain to rewire itself based on experiences. The right experiences can shape a child's intrinsic characteristics, building their resilience. Teaching children resilience, breaking harmful patterns, and promoting healthy attachment within families can break the cycle of trauma transmission.

“Play is our brain’s favourite way of learning.” - Diane Ackerman. Through play, children can quickly grasp definitions and abstract concepts, such as resilience, a shift in perspective, frustration tolerance, growth mindset and many more.
